Program Overview

Our program offers dedicated time and space for children to grow in confidence, resilience, and their connection with the natural world. Designed for children ages 4–12, this unique experience combines outdoor play with hands-on learning, led by skilled educators and special guests.

Day 1: Introduction to Shelter & Safety

  • Understand purpose of shelters (weather, warmth, protection)

  • Learn site awareness (hazards, wind direction, ground conditions)

  • Build simple group shelters using natural materials

Day 2: Materials & Basic Structures

  • Identify and gather safe, suitable natural materials

  • Learn simple structures (lean-to, debris shelter basics)

  • Practice building small-scale shelters

Day 3: Strength & Stability

  • Explore structure strength (what makes a shelter stable)

  • Reinforce building techniques (layering, anchoring, support)

  • Improve and rebuild shelters with stronger designs

Day 4: Tarp Shelters & Adaptability

  • Introduce tarp use and simple setups (A-frame, lean-to)

  • Learn knot basics for securing shelters

  • Build shelters adapted to different “weather scenarios”

Day 5: Team Builds & Reflection

  • Work in groups to design and build a functional shelter

  • Test shelters (wind, light rain simulation, durability)

  • Reflect on process, teamwork, and shelter effectiveness

Program Highlights

  • Child-led exploration with learning introduced naturally through play and curiosity

  • Nature games, storytelling, projects, and daily challenges that reflect the day’s theme

  • Small group adventures with a high adult-to-child ratio (1:7)

  • Supportive mentoring to encourage self-sufficiency and deeper learning

  • Focus on emotional intelligence, compassion, and gratitude

  • Visits from expert guests who inspire, teach, and guide children in outdoor knowledge and skills

I am thrilled to welcome everyone to programs, where we build community and connection through play.
