What is the Wolf Program?

The Wolf program is a dynamic journey and child-led program, where play-based learning is at the forefront. Our experienced educators are there every step of the way to provide support, creating an immersive outdoor experience. In this enriching environment, co-learning and collaboration become the cornerstones, offering children the freedom to explore the great outdoors.

Projects & Skill Development include:

  • Nature Literacy & Ecological Awareness
Learning to identify local plants, trees, wildlife, and seasonal changes helps families feel more at home in nature and deepens their sense of place.

  • Wilderness Safety & First Aid
Knowing how to respond to emergencies, recognize hazards, and care for injuries in remote areas is a top priority for families venturing outdoors together.

  • Shelter Building & Bushcraft
Hands-on survival skills — like building shelters, using tarps, and understanding how to stay warm and dry — empower both adults and children with self-reliance.

  • Fire Building & Outdoor Cooking
Learning how to safely build, tend, and extinguish a fire — and even cook over it — is a skill families are eager to develop together, especially in rural and camping settings.

  • Navigation & Wayfinding
Basic map reading, compass use, and understanding landmarks are key for families exploring trails and backcountry routes in the Valley.

  • Outdoor Play & Risk Assessment
Parents want their kids to take healthy physical risks — climbing, balancing, exploring — while also learning how to assess danger and make safe decisions.

  • Mindfulness & Mental Well-Being in Nature
Families are increasingly seeking time outdoors to slow down, connect, and use nature as a way to reduce stress, improve mental health, and build resilience.

  • Gardening & Food Growing Skills
Especially in rural areas, families want to know how to grow their own food, understand plant life cycles, and care for the land sustainably.

  • Animal Tracking & Wildlife Observation
Learning to move quietly, spot signs of animals, and track their movements helps families feel more connected to local ecosystems and wildlife behavior.

  • Community & Cultural Connection Through Land-Based Practices
Families are looking for opportunities to reconnect with traditional and Indigenous knowledge, storytelling, and shared experiences rooted in the land.
