At Out & About, we offer a playful, nature-rich learning environment where every day brings something new. Our Summer Forest School is thoughtfully designed for young children who are developing the foundational skills they’ll carry into preschool, kindergarten, and beyond.
Nestled in the heart of nature at Whitewater, our days are guided by the children’s interests and the ever-changing outdoor world. With space to roam, play, and wonder, children grow emotionally, socially, and physically through hands-on exploration and gentle guidance.
🌿 What Children Will Experience:
Nature-Based Invitations: Digging, climbing, splashing, collecting, and playing freely in fields, forests, and shady groves
School Readiness Skills: Practicing group routines, listening, following instructions, and building independence with dressing, toileting, and snack routines
Self-Regulation & Emotional Learning: Calming practices, body awareness, and naming feelings—all woven into playful routines
Hands-On Exploration: Age-appropriate invitations such as:
Nature tools & water play
Shelter building with tarps and sticks
Forest art, mud painting, and nature crafts
Knot-tying and fine motor activities with ropes and fabric
Forest cooking (cutting soft foods, stirring, tasting)
Songs and storytelling under the trees
Indigenous teachings through stories and land connection
Social Skills & Friendship-Building: Turn-taking, cooperative games, conflict resolution, and lots of joyful laughter

💚 Why Families Choose Us:
A gentle introduction to group care in a nurturing, low-pressure setting
A high adult-to-child ratio for safe, responsive care
