Dates: Monday - Friday
Hours: 9am - 3pm
Location: Jack Pine Park, Petawawa, ON

Program Overview

Our program offers dedicated time and space for children to grow in confidence, resilience, and their connection with the natural world. Designed for children ages 4–10, this unique experience combines outdoor play with hands-on learning, led by skilled educators and special guests.

Children will explore nature, learn new wilderness and survival skills, play games, and take part in engaging group challenges. They'll leave each day feeling proud, confident, and more connected to themselves, their peers, and the land around them.

What Your Child Will Gain

Children will build both practical skills and theoretical knowledge, including:

  • Risk assessment and safety awareness

  • Survival techniques and bushcraft

  • Effective problem-solving and critical thinking

  • A basic understanding of biology and natural systems

  • Life-long friendships, self-assurance, and emotional awareness

These skills naturally weave into their everyday lives, helping them become more capable, curious, and confident.

Skill-Based Learning Includes:

  • Tool use (with age-appropriate guidance and supervision)

  • Shelter building and fire safety

  • Bushcraft and nature-based crafts

  • Literacy through storytelling and nature journaling

  • Artistic expression using natural materials

  • Navigation, tracking, and other hands-on wilderness skills

Program Highlights

  • Child-led exploration with learning introduced naturally through play and curiosity

  • Nature games, storytelling, projects, and daily challenges that reflect the day’s theme

  • Small group adventures with a high adult-to-child ratio (1:7)

  • Supportive mentoring to encourage self-sufficiency and deeper learning

  • Focus on emotional intelligence, compassion, and gratitude

  • Visits from expert guests who inspire, teach, and guide children in outdoor knowledge and skills

We’re excited to welcome knowledgeable and passionate guests into our program—each one offering unique insights that help enrich your child’s learning journey.

Late Policy: Program ends promptly at 3pm. You will be charged an additional $50 if you are more than 5 minutes late one time.

*Children must be independently toileting

*Early drop off and late pick up is available. Email outandaboutinnature@gmail.com for inquiries.

Refund policy

Out & About summer program weeks are nonrefundable. An exception is made when we are able to fill the canceled space, and registrants will only receive a refund for the program, not the admin work. Upon filling the space we'll send the partial refund. Filling spaces takes time and we're busy in the program so we appreciate as much time as possible.

This program is opted to be canceled if spots are not filled.
