Dates: Monday - Friday
Hours: 9am - 3pm
Location: Jack Pine Park, Petawawa, ON
Surrounded by the beauty of Petawawa’s rural landscape, Out & About offers a peaceful, spacious, and inspiring setting for children to explore, grow, and thrive during the summer months. Our forest is more than just a backdrop—it's a co-teacher, offering endless invitations for curiosity-led discovery and meaningful connection.
This summer, children are welcomed into a program where their interests lead the way. Each day is shaped by the group’s curiosity and the ever-changing natural environment around us. With a strong focus on emotional awareness, self-resiliency, and relationship-building, children are supported as they take healthy risks, develop independence, and strengthen their sense of self—all while having fun and forming lasting friendships.
Program Highlights
Curiosity-led exploration with open-ended time to wander, wonder, and learn through play
Bushcraft and wilderness skills, including camping skills, knot tying, shelter construction, nature tools, and more
Nature-based games, storytelling, and hands-on projects that reflect daily curriculum themes and deepen connection to place
High adult-to-child ratio (1:8), ensuring meaningful mentorship and safe, small group adventures
Emotional intelligence and gratitude practices woven into the daily rhythm to support children’s nervous system regulation and self-awareness
Opportunities to build friendships, collaborate, and practice compassion and conflict resolution

Why Choose Out & About FNS?
Our summer program is intentionally designed to give children what they need most—unhurried time outdoors, space to be themselves, and supportive adults who see their strengths. The forest becomes a place of empowerment where learning is real, relevant, and rooted in experience.
